It’s that simple to use and will return a list of all of the devices on your network with their IP addresses and associated MAC addresses. The pmset settings and 'Wake for network access' etc. Download the very excellent wakeonlan for macOS 2 and click Scan. Click and hold the WakeOnLan icon in the Dock (while WakeOnLan running), and select any computer to be woken up or put asleep directly. New for all Mac OS X versions: Dock Menu. Simply select the computer to be woken up and click on the sun. macOS Sierra, as El Capitan, does not allow WOL. It reconnects very quickly, but that’s no good for WOL. BIOS and the PC should run a current version of Windows, Linux or Mac OS. When I woke it from sleep, the Network Preferences panel was still open (obviously) and Ethernet (at the top) showed as Disconnected and features a red dot beside it.
